WORKSHOP ON SHALES

DATE: Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

PRESENTATIONS by JSG Graduate Students and Faculty:

The Objective of this Workshop was to share insights into geophysical observations of shales, particularly what geophysical properties of shales may differentiate between good and poor producing wells. Using borehole data, several students are currently investigating the seismic response to variation in physical properties of Bakken, Bossier, Marcellus and Woodford Shales.

The EDGER Forum sponsors short workshops in specific topics of interest to sponsors. is workshop will provide an opportunity to develop deeper understanding of
fundamental issues of shale properties with students, faculty, producers and contractors in an informal, back to basics setting. Industry input is important in defining student research projects and participants are encouraged to submit short (5-10 min) presentations to help define problems and encourage discussion.
